HB Køge is a professional football club founded in 2009 through the merger of two historic Danish clubs, Herfølge Boldklub and Køge Boldklub. Both clubs brought proud traditions, championship history, and a strong reputation for developing talent for Danish and international football.

Køge Boldklub, founded in 1895, became the first club outside Copenhagen to win the Danish Championship in 1954 and later repeated the achievement in 1975. Herfølge Boldklub, founded in 1921, made history in 2000 by winning the Danish Superliga under former Danish international John “Faxe” Jensen.

The merger created HB Køge with the ambition of building a stronger, more competitive football club capable of returning to Denmark’s top level. Since then, the club has continued to focus on player development, competitive growth, and long-term success.

Following Capelli Sport’s investment, HB Køge’s women’s team experienced a remarkable rise, earning five straight promotions to reach Denmark’s top women’s league. The team went on to win the national title in its first top-flight season, breaking nearly two decades of dominance by Fortuna Hjørring and Brøndby IF.

HB Køge continued its success on the European stage by defeating Sparta Prague in UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying and later competing against elite clubs such as FC Barcelona, Arsenal, and Juventus. Today, HB Køge continues to establish itself as one of Denmark’s most ambitious football clubs, with growing recognition across European football.
