Barnsley Women’s Football Club is an English women’s football club based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Founded in 1982 as Barnsley Ladies Football Club, the club has been part of the women’s game for more than four decades and currently competes in the FA Women’s National League system.

Over the years, the club has evolved alongside the growth of women’s football in England. After operating as Barnsley Ladies for 34 years, the club became Barnsley FC Ladies following the 2016/17 season before adopting its current name, Barnsley Women’s Football Club, for the 2019/20 season.

In 2021, Capelli Sport expanded its involvement with the club, becoming a minority owner and strengthening its role as the exclusive supplier of on-field and off-field apparel, accessories, and equipment. The partnership aligns Barnsley Women with Capelli Sport’s broader global network of women’s football clubs and player development initiatives.

Through this partnership, Barnsley Women’s FC continues to build its presence in English football while promoting opportunities for female athletes, supporting player development, and helping grow the women’s game at both senior and youth levels.
